Blog Crush

My newest blog find! Sixty-Fifth Avenue shops thrift stores, garage sales and Craigslist for great furniture finds and makes them sexy again. There's nothing I love more than old furniture re-made into something fabulous.
Dressers are my favorite thing to redo, aren't her lines just gorgeous? Check out her hardware painting techniques here!

I absolutely love this one!

Such a great outdoor room, perfect for reading a great book while drinking lemonade.

And my favorite thing of all, her butterfly artwork made from old magazines and a paper punch, its adorable!

...the mallets, live flamingos!

It wouldn't be an Alice in Wonderland party without flamingos! We made these to point the guests in the right direction.

DIY
1. Find some tacky plastic lawn flamingos and give them a coat of primer, we used Zinsser 123 by RustOleum in a spray can, let dry overnight.
2. Roughly brush on the first layer of paint, we used some leftover pink from another project.
3. Allow to dry for at least one hour. Mix some white or cream paint with water to make a wash, about 30% paint to 70% water. Either use a rag or brush and wipe on. Let dry at least 30 minutes.
4. Make another wash in a contrasting color, we used leftover teal paint, use a rag and rub on in select areas until the right look is achieved. We did this several times with different shades of teal.
5. For the final touch, use a toothbrush or your paintbrush and lightly splatter paint your flamingos, we used a rust colored paint.

Check out this affordable wall art from our sweet sponsor Jen at Signs of our Time, these are just a few of my personal favorites.

Kitchen remodel anyone? Just the thing to spice it up!

I love this one for a little girls room or bathroom, so sweet.

So true and inspirational, this one would be great in my library....if I had a library, right now my books are stacked one on top of the other in a closet...poor books.

Tissue Paper Pom Poms

For these pom poms I followed the instructions from Martha Stewart, except I added several different colors in each pom pom. I also cut the ends in different ways, I cut a few of them on a diagonal, some rounded, and others pointed. I used a tissue paper multicolor pack from Hobby Lobby that I got on sale for 6 bucks!

I love how pretty they look hanging in bunches or strung one by one throughout the branches.

Sale!

Our sponsor Pursenickety is having a huge sale! 30% off all purses, this week only!

Blog Crush

It's been a while since I posted my latest blog crush, partly due to my computer completely tanking and erasing everything on my hard drive in the process...such fun! But we're finally back to normal here, all data fully restored, except my bookmarks which just so happened to have all my awaiting blog crushes. Lucky for me there are so many beautiful blogs to pick from, like this one...

Just in time for the sweet harvest of corn, peaches and grape jam, this website has all the need to know info to get you started.
Need canning labels? Download this cool calendar label here, and mark all the important details of the harvest.

I love their idea about a preservation party, have each guest bring a different fruit or vegetable from their garden to share, and everyone goes home with a variety of canned goods.
